Narayanhiti Palace is the royal palace of the last king of Nepal. This building has been the residence of the kings of Nepal for 135 years. The then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala hoisted the flag and announced the construction of the museum on July 20, 2008. Before that, a special flag of the King of Nepal was flown on the main pillar of the building.<\/p>\n

Exactly eight months later, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda opened the museum to the public. The Narayanhiti Museum covers an area of \u200b\u200b753 ropanis while the palace covers an area of \u200b\u200b318 ropanis. After Prithvi Vir Bikram Shah was brought to the northern facade of his palace by Ranoddeep Singh Bahadur Rana under the pretext of security, the palace was transformed into a royal palace. It was rebuilt in 2026 on a map by American architect Benjamin Polk.<\/p>\n

Benjamin Polk was then the director of Chatterjee & Polk, the largest architectural company in Asia based in Calcutta.\u00a0 He was involved in the construction of various projects in Nepal with US assistance by 2020. Before the assassination of Narayanhiti by Ranoddeep Singh Bahadur Rana (until the day of the Kot Festival), the Narayanhiti Bhavan was the residence of Chautaria Fateh Jung Shah, the then Prime Minister. It is mentioned that before that there was a huge building of Kazi Dhokal Singh Basnyat.<\/p>\n

Kings from Tribhuvan, Mahendra, Virendra, Dipendra and Gyanendra and many other members of the royal family were born in Narayanhiti. Before that, all the Shah dynasty kings from Prithvinarayan Shah used to live in the Hanumandhoka palace at Basantapur.<\/p>\n
