Rangoli is specially made in Tihar. For over a decade, the practice of making Rangoli in the yard on the day of Lakshmi Puja has been increasing. It is considered a symbol of good fortune. It is made by making Lakshmi’s footsteps. Adding beauty to it by lighting a lamp all around. It can be big or small depending on the place. It uses various colors, nuts, grains and flowers. At present, Design competitions are also held in various organizations. Different shapes can be made in it. Many auspicious signs are made in the design.

History of Rangoli

In ancient times,It was called Alpana. Alpana means to apply a paste. In ancient times, painting houses with colorful and artistic paintings was believed to bring wealth. Therefore,It was made especially during festivals and celebrations. It is believed to bring prosperity and happiness. In Mohenjo-daro and Harappa cultures, houses were decorated with such artefacts.

Design  method

It can be made in two ways – dry or wet. Chuck makes an outline and fills it with color to make an excellent design . It can be outlined in white. Geometric shapes and flowers are very popular in Rangoli. Now, ready-made. It is also available in the market. After making the outline, you can decorate It with the materials you have.
