Chhat The great festival of folk faith, Chhat, is officially starting from tomorrow.Starting from Kattik Shukla Chaturthi, the festival is formally concluded after offering Aghrya to the rising sun on the seventh day.On the fourth day of this festival, the devotees of the house clean the house of worship with purity, take a bath and eat Aruva Aruvain. This is called ‘Nahayakhay’. Kharna is performed on the day of Panchami. On this occasion, Vartalu fasts all day and cooks kheer in a new clay oven in the evening.

The same kheer is offered to the deity during worship at home. The kheer will be accepted as a prasad and distributed among the family members. After receiving the offering, the woman starts fasting again. This festival seems to be based on agriculture. In this festival new bamboo baskets, cones, fans as well as offerings like bananas, sugarcane, fruits, betel leaves, betel nuts, eggplants, radishes, suthani, sprouts, potatoes, jute and thekuva, bhusuwa and sweets are offered as offerings.

Offerings offered as aghrya to the setting sun can be offered to the rising sun again or a new dish is offered as aghrya. However, offerings cannot be distributed until the rising sun is offered.This festival is celebrated as a festival of lawfulness and purity. This festival is celebrated only after fulfilling the vows. Once started, it is done every year .
