Navaratri starts the late Ashoj or early Kartik Month . Navaratri festival is dedicated to female nature i.e. Goddess. . Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati are symbols of the three dimensions of feminine nature. During Navratri, these goddesses are worshiped in nine different forms every day. These goddesses are Shailiputri, Vramhacharani, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri. These goddesses are called by the name of Nava Durga.
There is a tradition of fulfilling one’s vow by offering five sacrifices to Goddess Nava Durga. Ghatsthapana Navaratri Method

Since jamara is one of the favorite plants of mother Bhagwati, jamara is grown to please Bhagwati. Jamara grown in this way is used as an offering to the goddess on the day of Vijayadashami.
