Ekadashi Barta, Hindus celebrate Haribodhani Ekadashi on Wednesday and Thursday. As there is only one hour of Haribodhani festival on Thursday, some people observe Ekadashi fast on Wednesday while many people observe this festival for Thursday. This Ekadashi is now known as the Ekadashi of awakening Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Lord Vishnu, who reached the sea for sleep four months ago, gets up on the day of Kattik Ekadashi and goes to Vaikuntha.

Generally, the calendar provides for two Ekadashis in a month. Those who fast on Ekadashi fast for two days every month without eating salt and spicy grains. But in the same way, there are 24 Ekadashis every year and up to 26 Ekadashis during the extra month. But what is the significance of these 26 Ekadashis? According to the Puranas, a person who fasts Ekadashi never gets into trouble in life or there is a religious belief that Ekadashi fast is useful for wealth and prosperity.

Different benefits of Ekadashi can be seen differently every month. There is a religious belief that Ekadashi fasting is beneficial for the health of a person, liberation from vagina, demons, ghosts, etc., and getting rid of various sins.

The importance of various Ekadashis celebrated from Chait to Falgun is mentioned below.

– Kamada and Papamochani falls in the month of Ekadashi Chaitra. It is fasted on Ekadashi to get rid of the vagina of various demons etc. from Kamada. Similarly, in the month of Chait, fasting is done to get rid of sins quickly on Ekadashi.

– Varuthini and Mohini Ekadashi are fasted in Vaishakh. If Varuthini is a good fortune teller, she also helps to save people from all sins. There is a religious belief that Mohini Ekadashi brings happiness, prosperity and peace through marriage.

– Apara and Nirjala Ekadashi are celebrated in the month of Jeth. It is believed that fasting on Apara Ekadashi gives man immense happiness and saves him from all sins. Nirjala is the Ekadashi of fasting without water. It is believed that this Ekadashi vow fulfills all desires.

– Yogini and Devshayani Ekadashi fall in the month of Ashadh. Yogini Ekadashi helps to achieve family happiness by removing all sins.

– Kamika and Putrada Ekadashi falls in the month of Shravan. There is a religious belief that fasting on Kamika Ekadashi frees the living being from all sins and allows him to attain Kuyoni. On Putrada Ekadashi, children fast for happiness.

– Aja and Parivartini Ekadashi fall in the month of Bhadra. It is believed that if one fasts for the solution of children’s crisis on Aja Ekadashi, all sorrows can be eradicated on Parivartini Ekadashi.

– Indira and Papankusha Ekadashi falls in the month of Ashwin. On Indira Ekadashi, one fasts to get rid of patriarchal debt and for the sake of one’s ancestors. On Papankusha Ekadashi, one fasts to get rid of sins.

– Rama and Prabodhini Ekadashi fall in the month of Kartik. On Rama Ekadashi, fasting is done for happiness and prosperity, while fasting on Prabodhini or Haribodhani Ekadashi helps to brighten one’s fortune. Tulsi is also worshiped on this day.

– Ekadashi is celebrated in Mansir on income and salvation. Fasting on Utpanna Ekadashi yields thousands of Vajpayee and Ashwamedha sacrifices. It satisfies the gods and ancestors. Mokshada Ekadashi is the name of salvation.

– Safala and Putrada come in the month of Ekadashi Poush. In Safala Ekadashi, one fasts for success, while in Putrada Ekadashi, one fasts for success.

– Shattila and Jaya Ekadashi are celebrated in the month of Magh. Fasting on Shattila Ekadashi is done to get rid of misfortune, poverty and many kinds of misery while fasting on Jaya Ekadashi is done to get rid of various kinds of sins.

– Vijaya and Amalaki Ekadashi fasts are observed in the month of Falgun. It is believed that the vows of Vijaya Ekadashi can get rid of terrible problems and also help in destroying the enemy. On Amalaki Ekadashi, fasting is done to get rid of all kinds of diseases.

In addition, there are two more Ekadashis in the extra month. Padmini (Kamala) and Parma Ekadashi are the Ekadashis of Adhikamas. While fasting on Padmini Ekadashi is believed to help in the glory and salvation of children, Parama Ekadashi provides wealth and prosperity and is also good for destroying sins.

It is believed that Sri Vishnu has incarnated twenty four times for the establishment of Dharma.
