Unicode to Preeti Converter
Convert Nepali Unicode text into Preeti font keys for older printing and design software that still uses Preeti. Conversion happens in your browser.
Preeti text looks like English letters (for example g]kfn) unless the Preeti font is installed. That is correct: copy it into Word, Photoshop or PageMaker and choose the Preeti font there.
How it works
To see the result as Nepali, the Preeti font must be installed and selected in your software (for example Word, PageMaker or Photoshop).
Preeti is an old font that draws Nepali letters on English keys, so the text is really English letters. This converter maps each Preeti key to its Unicode letter and then fixes the order rules Preeti uses: the ि sign is typed before its letter, the reph (र्) is typed after its syllable, and a half letter followed by ा becomes the full letter.
If a word looks wrong, check that the source really used Preeti and not Kantipur or another font. Kantipur uses a different key map.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Preeti text show as English letters?
Preeti stores English characters and only looks Nepali when the Preeti font is installed. Unicode stores real Nepali letters, so it displays everywhere.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser.
Why does the result look like English letters?
That is normal: Preeti text is stored as English keys. Select the Preeti font in your software to see Nepali.
