Vedas : The Storage of Knowledge
We have been hearing about the Vedas even though most of us have not studied it. That is why this scripture is mysterious to us. The Vedas are considered to be the world’s first scriptures. It is believed that the Vedas are based on the knowledge that God has given to the sages. Hence it is also called Shruti. In common parlance, Veda means knowledge.
The Vedas are a vast storehouse of ancient knowledge and science. It is the solution to every human problem. The Vedas contain all the subjects like Brahma, Deity, Universe, Astrology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Medicine, Nature, Astronomy, Geography, Religious Rules, History, Rituals etc.
Agni, Vayu, Aditya and Angira performed penance and are believed to have received Rig Veda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharva Veda. The first three Vedas are associated with Agni, Vayu and Surya (Aditya). According to a scripture, the Veda originated from the four mouths of Brahmaji. Similarly, the Veda are almost the oldest written document of human civilization.
Subdivision of the Vedas
Ayurveda from Rigveda, Dhanurveda from Yajurveda, Gandharvaveda from Samaveda and Sthapatyaveda from Atharvaveda. These are considered to be the sub-vedas of the four Vedas.
The Four Vedas
Rig Veda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharva Veda. Rig-position, Yaju-transformation, Sam-dynamic and Atharva-root. Rik is also called Dharma, Yaju is called Moksha, Sam is called Kama, Atharva is also called Artha. On this basis theology, economics, Kamashastra and Mokshashastra were composed.
Rik means position and knowledge. The Rig Veda is the first Veda, which is poetic. It has 10 chapters and 1028 verses. Which has 11 thousand mantras. This Veda has five branches, Shakalpa, Vaskal, Ashvalayana, Shankhayana, Mandukayana. The Rig Veda also contains information on hydrotherapy, aerobics, solar therapy, psychiatry and incense therapy. The tenth chapter of the Rig Veda contains information about medicine. The number of medicines in it is about 125, which is found in 107 places.
Yajurveda means: Yatra and Ju means Yaju, which means moving sky. The Yajurveda contains information about the method of Yajna and the mantras used in Yajna. There is a description of sacrifice as well as philosophy. There is knowledge of Brahman, soul, God and matter. This Veda is prose. It contains prose for the good process of sacrifice.
Sam means transformation and music. Even gentleness and worship. This Veda is the musical form of Richa of Rig Veda. The Samaveda is in the form of lyric. This Veda is considered to be the root of musicology.
Tharva means vibration, Atharva means digitization. Moksha is attained by those who are absorbed in the worship of God by doing the best deeds out of knowledge. This Veda contains information about mystical knowledge, herbs, miracles, Ayurveda.
