Karnali  : With the federal government declaring 2020 as the ‘Nepal Tourism Year’, state and local governments are working on plans for tourist attractions. Karnali, which has a lot of potential for tourism, is also eager to welcome tourists. The Ranali government is launching the year of tourism from Surkhet today with the objective of supporting the promotion of tourist destinations.

Bubble is the main destination of Surkhet. The state government is planning to welcome tourists from here and attract as many internal and external tourists as possible in the year of visit. The state government celebrated 2075 BS as ‘Rara-Karnali Tourism Year’. Rara remained at the center of the year-round tourism activities. Due to this, other destinations connected with Rara were also chosen by the tourists.

Tourist activity continued throughout the year. Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Nanda Singh Budha said that Rara Karnali is preparing to attract more domestic and foreign tourists in the year 2020 based on the achievements and learning of the tourism year. “The Rara Karnali Tourism Year has created a great debate for the promotion and development of the tourism sector,” he said.

This time, in the year 2020 BS, the Tourism Promotion Committee of the state government is planning to create its own slogan and logo to attract tourists to Karnali. The state government is realizing the concept of tourist-friendly Karnali by conducting simultaneous promotion and infrastructure development work under the slogan ‘Let’s go to Karnali this time’ (It’s Time for Karnali).

The state government is unveiling a ‘tourism master plan’ prepared after nine months for its systematic implementation. Minister Budha said that the government is committed to provide maximum facilities and security to the tourists during the visit year. Raju Karki, a hotelier from Rara and co-coordinator of the state-level Tourism Promotion Committee, said that Karnali was a destination not only for observing the natural beauty and pilgrimage but also for studying the cultural diversity.

“Karnali is beautiful in all respects. There are endless features in Nepal that can be found here,” he said. He said that one can enjoy trekking in Humla-Dolpa, Bheri and Karnali.
