In Ruru i.e. Redi, not only the last rites for patriarchy, shraddha, but also good deeds like marriage and bratavandha are performed. People reach the Ruru area to bury the dead. Ruru area is the place where Devadatta sage and Ruru Kanya performed penance. In Sanskrit, deer is called Ruru. The name Ruru Kshetra is derived from the name of the maiden who was brought up by the deer.

Ridi has a historic Rishikesh temple replaced by Manimukunda Sen. When there were twenty-two and twenty-four kingdoms, Palpa was ruled by the Sen kings. In the Rishikesh temple built by King Manimukunda in 1575 BS, there is a tradition of taking a chariot procession on the day after Haribodani Ekadashi.

There is a religious belief that one can attain virtue by bathing in the river Kaligandaki in the Rishikesh temple which is considered as Lord Narayan. While the 16th century king Manimukunda Sen was bathing in the river Kaligandaki, the Rishikesh rock hit him on the forehead. On the same day, the stone that hit me while bathing in a dream at night is mine. Ruru kanya

I am Vishnu Bhagwan. Let me build a temple around Kaligandaki and serve me. Later, Manimukunda Sen built the Rishikesh temple at the confluence of Kaligandaki and Ridi rivers. The Bhattarai dynasty of Pashlap Argheli has been worshiping in the 500-year-old Rishikesh temple.

Reedy River and Kaligandaki are mixed in Reedy. The confluence of Kaligandaki and Ridi rivers is called Ridi or Rurukshetra. Rurukshetra includes Arghali, Kuseni, Satyavati, Rudraveni, Aslewa and Veni villages. The glory of Ridi or Rurukshetra is found in Himavatkhand and Varaha Purana. Ruru kanya

Rurukshetra has a special significance as Shaligram is found in the form of Vishnu. Ridi has temples and idols of Rishikesh and other deities. Of all the temples, the idol of Rishikesh is considered to be the most important. The Rishikesh temple was rebuilt by Ranadatta Pandey in 1819 BS. There are idols of many deities including Radhakrishna, Vishnu, Rama and Hanuman.

Rurukshetra (Ridi), known as a holy place of pilgrimage since ancient times, is located between Gulmi Palpa and Syangja districts. Located about 70 kilometers north of Butwal, the commercial capital of western Nepal, this area is the gateway to Gulmi district. It is located at an altitude of 1800 feet above sea level. Its natural structure looks like a valley as there is a flat land surrounded by hills on all sides. Ruru kanya

This place can be reached by road from Kathmandu via Butwal Tansen. All kinds of private and rented vehicles can be found here. You can also reach Bhairahawa Airport via Butwal by air. All the facilities including paved roads, communication, electricity, hotels, education and entertainment have made this place accessible.

Located on the banks of the Kaligandaki River, Ridi Bazaar was completely devastated by a devastating flood in 18 years. Due to which huge amount of wealth including historical and religious heritage was lost here. The new houses, temples, pavilions, pavilions and gardens built after the Great Depression have made the place well-organized and added to its beauty.

The glory of Rurukshetra on the banks of Kaligandaki is mentioned in Puranas and scriptures. The Baraha Purana describes the mythological history of the Ruru region, while the Swasthani Kitab also mentions that the tooth of Sati Devi fell at this place (Bhirgutungeshwar). Similarly, according to Hindu religious beliefs, there are four religious regions in Nepal. Ruru kanya

This place is also known as Benaras of Nepal. Foreign scholar Percival Landon in his book ‘Nepal’ has commented that all the features available in Benaras are similar to Rurukshetra, comparing it with Benaras as ‘Nepal’s Banaras’. The area is also a sacred ghat for Hindus. So people from all over the country come here for cremation.

A big fair is held here for three days of Maghe Sankranti and two days of Rishikesh festival. Also, fairs are held here every Saturday of the month of Aunshi, Purnima, Eclipse and Baishakh throughout the year. Even though it is confined to a single cell, it has more than 40 temples. The Rishikesh Temple here is considered to be one of the most famous temples in Nepal which has been nominated for the World Heritage List. The confluence of three-dimensional features such as the presence of Lord Rishikesh, the flow of Kaligandaki and the availability of Shaligram has made the Ruru region a distinctive religious identity.

The area is not only a religious site but also the main commercial hub of the region. Since ancient times, it has been the trading center of Gulmi, Palpa, Syangja, Arghakhanchi, Baglung, Rukum and Rolpa. Even before road transport was available here, people used to carry goods by themselves and by mule. In ancient times, this place was suitable for visiting Bhote, Nepal Valley and Madhes.

It is the gateway to Gulmi district and connects Arghakhanchi, Baglung and Syangja districts by road. Just as Butwal has become the business hub of western Nepal today, Rurukshetra is sure to become the business hub of the region tomorrow. There is ample potential to run industries here by making the best use of the natural resources like water, forest, land and minerals. Ruru kanya

The region has been made a load shedding free zone by generating 2.4 megawatts of electricity from wasted river water at a time when the country is facing an extreme energy crisis. Another feature here is the historical aspect. This place has been a destination for high-ranking personalities for a long time. In the history of Palpali, Manimukunda Sen, Bhimsen Thapa, Jung Bahadur Rana and other important destinations of kings and emperors have been found.

Bhimsen Thapa has also built a temple and a pavilion in this place. Similarly, Shri 3 Juddha Shamsher Rana had come to live in this area. He had built a palace at Argali for the same purpose, which still exists today. There is also a tradition of burying the remains of any member of the royal family after their death. Ruru kanya

Naming – Rurukshetra is the mythological name of this place. It is also called redi zone. There is a lot of disagreement today about how it was nominated. Rurukshetra refers to the name Rurukshetra because the deer breastfed and raised the daughter of the sage Devadatta. It is believed that this place came to be known as ‘Rurukshetra’ after the same virgin who was later liberated after undergoing severe penance.

It is believed that the word ‘Rurukshetra’ is a corruption of ‘Ridi’ area. Similarly, according to religious beliefs, a person is born with three types of debt: debt to God, debt to the father and debt to the sage.
