How it works

Numbers are read in the Nepali system: हजार (thousand), लाख (100 thousand), करोड (10 million), अर्ब (1 billion) and खर्ब (100 billion). 1,23,45,678 becomes एक करोड तेइस लाख पैँतालीस हजार छ सय अठहत्तर.

Spellings of 1 to 99 follow common usage in Nepali textbooks. A few numbers have accepted alternative spellings, so check official documents against your office's style.
