I'd like to recommend Bandipur, a small hill town in Tanahun district, roughly halfway between Kathmandu and Pokhara. I first went there on a school trip in grade eight, and I've been back twice with my family since then.

What makes it special is that the old bazaar has been kept almost exactly as it was a century ago. There are traditional Newari houses with carved wooden windows, and cars aren't allowed on the main street, so it's very peaceful. A visitor can walk up to Thani Mai temple early in the morning to watch the sunrise over the Himalayas, explore Siddha Gufa, which is one of the largest caves in Nepal, or simply sit in a tea shop and watch village life.

The reason I'd recommend it is that it gives visitors a real feel for Nepali culture without the crowds of bigger tourist places. It's also easy to reach, only a short drive off the main highway, and the people there are genuinely welcoming. Honestly, whenever I go there I come back feeling relaxed.
