How it works
The text is read from your PDF in your browser. If your browser has a built-in translator (Chrome 138 or newer on Windows, Mac or Linux), the translation happens on your device and nothing is uploaded.
Otherwise you get the text of your PDF split into parts, with a button to open each part in Google Translate. Your text is sent to Google only when you press that button.
Scanned PDFs have no text; run OCR PDF first. Layout, images and tables are not kept.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is read in your browser. Only if you press an "Open in Google Translate" button is that part of the text sent to Google.
Is the translation exact?
Machine translation is good for understanding. For legal or official documents, use a certified translator.
