Many mountain peaks can be observed from one place. There are dry and desolate mountains around. Annapurna Gaonpalika-4 The natural beauty of Panchkunda Narchang Tal in Annapurna base camp is enviable. Dil Bahadur Garbuja of Narchang Tal said that the lake was covered due to lack of infrastructure and publicity.
Located at an altitude of 4,100 meters above sea level, Panchkunda Narchang Lake is about one kilometer long and 500 meters wide. Although the Annapurna Himal has become a natural glacier for many years due to the accumulation of melting water, it is not much talked about.
Tani Thapa of Pokhara, who recently returned from Annapurna base camp, said that she was fascinated by the beauty of the lake. “After seeing the lakes and mountains, I forgot all the misery of the road,” she said. Due to the bad geography, there is a lack of footpaths to reach the lake. There has been no publicity about the natural and religious significance.
Chandrajit Pun of Narchang Tal said that the number of devotees and tourists is low. “There are five separate lakes, blood, milk, copper, pure and gold,” he said.
In ancient times, a sage named Kagbhusinda had acquired knowledge through penance and spread the word about this lake in various places. It is believed that by donating Pinda in the memory of one’s father, one gets merit. Shiva temples and Buddhist monasteries have also been built to develop the lake as a religious destination.
Chandrajit Pun has built a public toilet with private investment. The footpath connecting the base camp of Annapurna I, which was first climbed by Maurice Herzog of France on June 3, 1950, was identified only eight years ago. Earlier, it had taken five to seven days to reach the base camp by taking a risky journey through the hills and jungles.
Lake Narchang Tal has become like a stadium of frozen ice in the morning. In winter, especially when the temperature drops, this type of lake makes the youth more excited. Youngsters who reach the lake enjoy playing on the surface of the lake. But when the road is difficult, only a small number of people can reach the lake.
The youngsters who had recently reached the lake for the promotion of the lake were happy to play after the surface did not crack even when a large rock was thrown at the frozen lake. No measurement has been made as to the degree to which the temperature drops below freezing. The cold has also increased in the northern Annapurna base camp of Myagdi. The snow has not fallen yet. Man Bahadur Purja, an old man from Narchang Tal , Myagdi, who has visited the base camp many times, said that it will get colder after the snowfall. The lake is about 1 km long and 400 meters wide. Official figures on the length, width and depth of the lake have not yet been released by government agencies.
The lake is surrounded by mountain peaks. Capt. Damba Bahadur Pun, chairman of the Annapurna Village Municipality, said that the lake below the 8,091-meter-high Annapurna Mountain was first climbed by French citizen Maurice Hazorg about seven decades ago. Chairman Pun reminded that the village municipality has recently organized a promotion program for the promotion of the beautiful lake and the road leading to it.
Suren Gurung of Annapurna Gaonpalika-5, Sikh said that the number of tourists visiting the lake could be increased by maintaining the footpath to the lake. Gurung himself had recently reached the lake. He shared his experience of being attracted by the beauty of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Ram Chandra Adhikari, general member of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN) and director of Essence Treks and Expeditions, said that the association has also participated in the promotion.
After reaching Narchang Tal via Bhurung Tatopani from Myagdi headquarters Veni, one can reach the lake in 3 to 4 days by walking through Lekgaon, Chhotepa and Humkhola. Due to the construction of roads up to Chhota, the time to start the journey from there is a bit shorter. There are no human settlements above Lekgaon and Chhotepa. Camping-based hiking should be done. Due to the difficult road, the climbers have to climb the Annapurna mountain in a helicopter at the base camp. Tej Gurung, chairman of the Annapurna Conservation Area Management Committee, Narchang Tal , said that the media should give correct information to promote the lake and North Annapurna base camp.
