Bandipur Mini Great Wall : The Bandipur Municipality of Tanahu is constructing a ‘Mini Great Wall’ to give a glimpse of the world famous Great Wall. Village Municipality Chairman Purna Singh Thapa said that the work of ‘Mini Great Wall’ constructed to promote tourism in Bandipur, which is of great tourist importance, has been completed about 20 percent.

“The construction of the 1,100-meter wall of the Great Wall, which was started two years ago by preparing DPR of the ambitious project at a cost of about Rs.110 million, has been completed so far,” he said. The length will be four kilometers and a park will be built in the middle of the wall.

The village municipality has stated that Rs. 7 million has been spent so far. This modern footpath will start from Bandipur Bazaar and connect to Mukundeshwari Gadhi via Thanimai and Samibhanjyang. According to him, work has been delayed due to Kovid-19 and repeated bandhs. So far, a budget of Rs. 7 million has been spent. The footpath wall started from Thanimai temple in Bandipur village municipality-2 will reach Mukundeshwari hill and will be completed. The construction cost has become expensive due to the compulsion of the workers to carry the construction materials as there is not enough vehicles on the hill.

Mukundeshwari Danda is a place ruled by the then King Mukunda Sen. The footpath wall has also been named as ‘Mukundeshwari Wall’. The footpath wall will be three meters wide. The goal is to build a museum on Mukundeshwari Danda. More than one lakh tourists visit Bandipur annually. The village municipality has also started preparations for the construction of a glass observation pillar to promote tourism in Bandipur.

The village municipality plans to develop Bandipur, which is located between tourist centers like Kathmandu, Pokhara and Sauraha, as the center of these centers. Vehicles are not allowed on the paved road in Bandipur. Bandipur is an excellent destination for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. After traveling 18 kilometers from the district headquarters Damauli to Dumre and reaching an eight-kilometer uphill journey, one reaches Bandipur.

From where you can see the beautiful snow-capped mountains, hills and peaks. A mini-grade wall (Mani Mukundeshwari wall) of the same nature has been constructed in Bandipur, a tourist spot in Tanahu, known as the ‘Queen of the Hills’, to commemorate the Chinese grade wall.

The grade wall is being constructed with the financial support of Bandipur village municipality to further increase the tourism activities. Chairman of Bandipur Village Municipality, Purna Singh Thapa, informed that there is a plan to develop this project, which looks like the world-famous Grad Wall of China, as a historical and tourist site of Tanahu.

It is said that the wall will be about four kilometers long from Bandipur village municipality 2 Thanimai temple to Mukundeshwari hill. The number of tourists is expected to increase after the construction of ‘Mini Great Wall’ in Bandipur, which has earned the nickname ‘Queen of the Hills’ due to its scenic beauty and beauty.

Stating that initiatives are being taken for the required budget, Chairman Thapa said that the work of constructing a wall of 1,100 meters length has been completed so far.
