MD5 / SHA Hash Generator
Generate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of text or a file, right in your browser.
How it works
SHA hashes use the browser's Web Crypto API; MD5 uses a built-in implementation tested against the RFC 1321 examples. Text is hashed as UTF-8.
Hashing is not encryption: it cannot be reversed. MD5 and SHA-1 are broken for security use (passwords, signatures); use SHA-256 or better.
Frequently asked questions
Can I decrypt an MD5 hash?
No. Hashes are one-way. Sites that "decrypt" MD5 only look up common words.
