Read the passage and answer the question. A: Until 2012, the village of Sanogaun had no electricity. Families used kerosene lamps, and children did their homework by firelight. B: In 2012, villagers formed a committee, raised part of the money themselves and received a government grant to build a small hydropower plant on the stream above the village. Every household contributed labour, carrying stones and digging channels. C: Today the plant powers lights, a flour mill and a small workshop. However, it produces less electricity in the dry season, when the stream is low, so the committee is now discussing adding solar panels. What does paragraph B suggest about the project?
सही उत्तर: ख) The villagers did much of the work themselves.
'Every household contributed labour', and villagers 'raised part of the money themselves'.

The amount a person needs also depends on their size, how active they are and the weather. A simple guide is to drink when you are thirsty and to drink more in hot weather or during exercise. Which sentence best fills the gap (___) in the passage?
सही उत्तर: घ) However, there is little scientific evidence for this exact figure.
The next sentence begins 'In fact' and gives information that challenges the eight-glass rule, so the gap needs a sentence questioning that figure.

Read the passage and answer the question. Young sunflowers follow the sun across the sky: in the morning their flower buds face east, during the day they slowly turn towards the west, and overnight they swing back to face east again. When the plants mature and the flowers open, however, most stop moving and face east permanently. Researchers have found that east-facing flowers warm up faster in the morning sun, and warm flowers attract more bees, which helps pollination. Why is facing east an advantage for mature sunflowers?
सही उत्तर: ग) Warmer flowers attract more bees, which helps pollination.
East-facing flowers 'warm up faster in the morning sun, and warm flowers attract more bees'.

Read the passage and answer the question. In 2014, only 120 of the 400 households in the hill village of Bhalam owned a smartphone. By 2019 the number had risen to 260, and by 2024 it had reached 360. The number of households in the village stayed the same throughout the period. Which statement about the increase in smartphone ownership is correct?
सही उत्तर: ग) It increased by more between 2014 and 2019 than between 2019 and 2024.
2014-2019: 260 - 120 = 140 households; 2019-2024: 360 - 260 = 100 households. 120 to 360 is exactly three times, not more than triple.

Read the passage and answer the question. In a famous study published in 1968, the psychologists Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson told teachers at an American primary school that a test had identified certain pupils as likely to make rapid intellectual progress. In reality, those pupils had been chosen at random. By the end of the school year, many of the selected children showed greater gains in their IQ scores than their classmates. The researchers concluded that the teachers' expectations had influenced the children's progress, perhaps because the teachers gave them more attention and encouragement. Why was it important that the selected pupils were chosen at random?
सही उत्तर: घ) It showed that their greater progress could not be explained by higher ability.
Because the selected pupils were no more able than the others, their extra progress pointed to the effect of teachers' expectations.
