Read the passage and answer the question. The Venus flytrap grows naturally in only a small area of wetlands in North and South Carolina in the United States. The soil there is poor in nutrients, especially nitrogen, so the plant obtains extra nutrients by catching insects. Each trap is made of two leaf lobes with tiny trigger hairs on the inside. If an insect touches the hairs twice within a short time, the trap snaps shut. Requiring two touches helps the plant avoid wasting energy on raindrops or falling bits of leaves. Like other green plants, however, the flytrap still makes most of its food by photosynthesis. Which statement is supported by the passage?
सही उत्तर: ख) The flytrap gets most of its food from photosynthesis.
The last sentence states that the flytrap 'still makes most of its food by photosynthesis'; the passage never says it cannot survive without insects.

Read the passage and answer the question. Many people call spiders insects, but biologists place them in a different group, the arachnids. An insect has six legs and a body divided into three parts: the head, the thorax and the abdomen. Most insects also have antennae, and many have wings. A spider, by contrast, has eight legs and a body in two main parts, and it has neither antennae nor wings. Scorpions, ticks and mites are also arachnids. So the next time you see a spider in the corner of your room, remember that it is more closely related to a scorpion than to a fly. What is the writer's main purpose?
सही उत्तर: ग) to correct a common mistake about spiders
The passage begins by noting that 'many people call spiders insects' and then explains why this is wrong.

Read the passage and answer the question. Walk into many school and public libraries and you will notice numbers on the spines of the non-fiction books. These numbers usually come from the Dewey Decimal Classification, a system first published by the American librarian Melvil Dewey in 1876. It divides knowledge into ten main classes, each given a range of numbers between 000 and 999. For example, books on the natural sciences and mathematics are placed in the 500s. Numbers after a decimal point allow librarians to divide each subject further, so that books on closely related topics sit next to each other on the shelves. Why are numbers after a decimal point used?
सही उत्तर: ग) to divide a subject into narrower topics
Numbers after a decimal point 'allow librarians to divide each subject further'.

Read the passage and answer the question. Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak, a tree that grows mainly in Portugal, Spain and other countries around the western Mediterranean. Unlike most trees used for their materials, the cork oak is not cut down when its bark is harvested. Skilled workers strip the thick outer bark by hand, leaving the inner layer to protect the tree, and the bark slowly grows back. A tree can be harvested about every nine years and may live for more than two hundred years. Because cork is light, waterproof and springy, it has long been used for bottle stoppers, floor tiles and notice boards. What can be inferred about a cork oak that lives for two hundred years?
सही उत्तर: ख) It can be harvested many times during its life.
If the bark can be taken about every nine years and the tree lives over 200 years, it can be harvested many times.
