मुख्य व्याख्या

PTE Academic के हो?

PTE Academic Pearson ले सञ्चालन गर्ने computer-based English test हो। यसमा तपाईं computer अगाडि बसेर headset र microphone प्रयोग गरी जवाफ दिनुहुन्छ। परीक्षक मान्छेसँग आमने-सामने interview हुँदैन।

पूरा परीक्षा लगभग 2 घण्टाको हुन्छ। Result मा एउटा overall score र चार communicative skill (Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening) को छुट्टाछुट्टै score आउँछ। सबै score 10 देखि 90 को scale मा हुन्छन्।

तपाईंको target 50–65 हो भने यो धेरै विद्यार्थीले पुर्याउन सक्ने स्तर हो। तर यसका लागि test को ढाँचा राम्ररी बुझ्नु पहिलो कदम हो, किनकि PTE मा “कसरी उत्तर दिने” भन्ने कुराले नै धेरै अङ्क निर्धारण गर्छ।

तीन भाग, 22 task

Test तीन मुख्य भागमा बाँडिएको छ: Speaking & Writing, Reading र Listening। सुरुमा एउटा Personal Introduction हुन्छ, जसको score हुँदैन।

पहिले PTE मा 20 वटा task type थिए। 2025 को update मा Speaking मा दुई नयाँ task थपिए: Respond to a Situation र Summarize Group Discussion। अब जम्मा 22 task type छन्।

Scoring: AI पहिला, मान्छे पनि

PTE को scoring AI-first छ। यसको अर्थ तपाईंका सबै उत्तर पहिला automated system ले जाँच्छ।

तर सात वटा task मा content (तपाईंले के भन्नुभयो वा लेख्नुभयो) को जाँच AI र human दुवैबाट हुन्छ, जसलाई human double marking भनिन्छ। ती सात task हुन्:

• Describe Image
• Re-tell Lecture
• Respond to a Situation
• Summarize Group Discussion
• Summarize Written Text
• Write Essay
• Summarize Spoken Text

Pronunciation र oral fluency भने AI ले मात्र जाँच्छ। त्यसैले स्पष्ट, स्थिर र microphone ले राम्ररी समात्ने गरी बोल्नु अनिवार्य छ।

Integrated scoring

PTE मा धेरै task integrated छन्, अर्थात् एउटै task ले एकभन्दा बढी skill को score मा योगदान दिन्छ। उदाहरणका लागि Read Aloud मा तपाईं पढ्नुहुन्छ र बोल्नुहुन्छ, त्यसैले यसले Reading र Speaking दुवैमा असर गर्छ।

यसको व्यावहारिक अर्थ: कमजोर Listening भएको विद्यार्थीले Repeat Sentence र Write from Dictation सुधार्दा Listening score पनि बढ्न सक्छ।

Negative marking

केही task मा गलत उत्तर छान्दा अङ्क काटिन्छ। Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers (Reading र Listening दुवै) मा हरेक सही option ले एक अङ्क दिन्छ र हरेक गलत option ले एक अङ्क घटाउँछ। Item को अङ्क शून्यभन्दा तल जाँदैन।

Highlight Incorrect Words मा पनि यस्तै हुन्छ: गलत शब्द click गर्दा अङ्क घट्छ।

50–65 target का लागि प्राथमिकता

सबै task उत्तिकै महत्वपूर्ण हुँदैनन्। धेरै integrated अङ्क दिने र अभ्यासले छिटो सुधार हुने task मा पहिला ध्यान दिनुहोस्:

1. Read Aloud र Repeat Sentence: Speaking को आधार; fluency सुधार्न दैनिक अभ्यास।
2. Write from Dictation: Listening र Writing दुवैलाई सहयोग; spelling ध्यान दिनुहोस्।
3. Describe Image र Re-tell Lecture: स्पष्ट structure भए राम्रो अङ्क सम्भव।
4. Reading & Writing Fill in the Blanks: collocation र grammar ले काम गर्छ।
5. Write Essay र Summarize Written Text: form नियम पालना गर्दा मात्र पनि ठूलो फरक पर्छ।

महत्वपूर्ण परिभाषा

• Overall score: सम्पूर्ण test को एकल score (10–90)। यो चार skill score को साधारण औसत मात्र होइन भन्ने बुझ्नुहोस्।
• Communicative skills score: Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening को छुट्टै score।
• Integrated task: एउटै task बाट दुई skill मा अङ्क जाने प्रकार।
• Human double marking: content trait लाई AI र मानिस दुवैले जाँच्ने प्रक्रिया।
• Negative marking: गलत छनोटमा अङ्क कटौती; item को minimum 0।
• Personal Introduction: सुरुको परिचय; score हुँदैन तर institution लाई पठाइन सक्छ।

Negative marking हिसाब

मानौं एउटा MCMA प्रश्नमा दुई सही option छन्: B र D। चार विद्यार्थीको उत्तर हेर्नुहोस्:

यहाँ गीताले एउटा मात्र छानेर पनि सीताजत्तिकै अङ्क पाइन्। यही कारणले शंका भएको option छोड्नु बुद्धिमानी हो।
