PTE Listening: Multiple Choice

Format र scoring

“costs went up considerably” लाई option मा “expenses increased significantly” लेखिएको हुन सक्छ।
  • Contrast signal: but, however, on the other hand
  • Correction: “Many people think X, but actually Y” मा speaker को आफ्नो विचार Y हो, X होइन।

Notes

  • Speaker’s attitude:
  • Signal word: Recording
  • Negative marking: MCMA

Multiple Choice, Single Answer

Question: What is the speaker’s main point?

  1. Deserts are defined by low rainfall, not by high temperature.
  2. Antarctica is becoming warmer every year.
  3. Most of the world’s deserts are cold.
  4. Scientists disagree about how to define a desert.
Transcript

When people hear the word desert, they usually imagine endless heat and sand. But temperature is not what defines a desert. Scientists classify a region as a desert because it receives very little rain or snow each year. That is why Antarctica, which is extremely cold, is actually considered the largest desert on Earth.

1. “temperature is not what defines a desert … very little rain or snow” लाई option 1 ले paraphrase गरेको छ।

Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers

Question: According to the speaker, which advantages of online classes did students mention?

  1. They could watch recorded lectures again.
  2. They saved time and money on travel.
  3. It was easier to make friends.
  4. Their internet connection improved.
  5. Class sizes became smaller.
Transcript

I’d like to share the results of our student survey on online classes. Most students said they liked being able to watch recorded lectures again before exams. Many also appreciated saving time and money on travel. On the other hand, a large number felt that it was harder to ask questions and build friendships with classmates. Interestingly, very few students mentioned problems with their internet connection, which we had expected to be the main complaint.

  • “Many people think” लाई speaker को विचार ठान्नु: Speaker प्रायः पछि “but” भनेर त्यसलाई सच्याउँछन्।
