Darjeeling : Vikesh Pokhrel of Biratnagar yelled as he was about to slow down at Darjeeling crossroads. How full. Isn’t it true that the people of the heart are not afraid to stay on the top of the hill like this day and night? ‘

Vikesh does not always say such words. As soon as he crossed the Pashupatinagar gate of Ilam, the word was coined by him at the beginning – Ambo! From the gate, the driver of the car he was riding in for Darjeeling heard something new and was surprised to hear the same words over and over again. When are you?

Darjeeling
Darjeeling

Then, words like hriya (here), raich (rahech) were new to him. He found Darjeeling love ‘touchy’. As the driver was saying these words to show surprise, Vikesh was even more surprised by the driver’s words. There was a lot of fun in the car with a crowd of friends walking around Darjeeling. Surprisingly, he did not dare to mimic the word ‘ambo’ until he got in the car.

The driver, who had hair, black glasses and a yellow ring on three fingers of his right hand, was talking openly with strangers. They felt that the driver’s tattooed arm was not giving such an easy signal. So from time to time, even in the middle, I would say ‘Ambo ..’ as if I was forced to remain silent. The driver did not dare to speak for fear that he would understand.

By the time the driver started his journey from Pashupatinagar to the taxi stand at Darjeeling Beach Bazaar, he had learned to tell them the history of Darjeeling, the present and the future, in a sweet, humorous and humorous way. They were attracted by the good culture of telling the passengers about the points to visit in Darjeeling, what kind of hotel to stay in, how much to spend for how many days, and the general history of the place. Surprisingly, it seemed that the driver could easily tell whatever history, geography, meaning, tourism, literature asked. From time to time, they thought, “Here, the driver is not only the public servant, but also the father of the public servant.”

Reaching the iron fence lined up in the open courtyard of the crossroads, Vikesh uttered a word that seemed strange to him. Thankfully the driver is not nearby. Friends laughed heartily at Vikesh’s words. Another friend who was with him added, “Fire!” “Aanch” and “Dallai” were also common words in the conversation between the driver and the passenger inside the Pashupatinagar-Darjeeling train.

September and October are usually full of tourists, Darjeeling. As it is also a festival in this season, it is fragrant with gold for tourists. Darjeeling, nicknamed the ‘Queen of the Hills’, is as fascinating as its dialect, lifestyle, tradition and culture. Tourism in Darjeeling, which has been slowed down by the corona infection since last year, is now trying to recover. Also, the number of visitors is increasing.

Political geography does not stop Nepalis from entering Darjeeling from the border. With 12 months of cold weather, fog and rain, the tourist season has just begun in Darjeeling. The sky is clear. Chiabari is green on the hills of Thumka-Thumka. Tourists are greeted by the pine-forest and the cool breeze along the road. The Kanchenjunga mountains and mountain ranges seen in the palm of your hand were not unattractive.

Nittingel Park.

Darjeeling
Darjeeling

The small but chirchy house on the side of the road is the eastern Indian border area of Ilam and the identity of Darjeeling. Within the greenery, the color of the house is also green. Colorful flags in the courtyards of most homes because of the large Buddhist population. Gumba and Mane in some places. Ballast buried in a line on the black road for fear of slipping on the tar when it is foggy. Aha! What a wonderful way to screw people over.

‘Where did the dojus come from?’ Asked the young man, who looked like a local, as he was taking a selfie with the statue of the great poet Bhanubhakta Acharya.

“From Nepal.”

“Where does Nepal speak?”

The second question made everyone wonder for a moment – what is this wake? No one dared to cross-examine even though he was shocked.

Seeing that everyone was silent, the same young man repeated, “Where did you come from?”

“Ah, Biratnagar.”

At this time, Darjeeling has been touched by Dashain-Tihar. The market is full of shoppers. The weeds that have grown around the house during the rainy season have started to be removed, covered and made beautiful.
Despite being from Dolakha, Nepal, the young man, who has been living in Darjeeling for the past three years, has been carrying tourist loads. When he sees more Nepalis, he feels as if he has come from his own village. After getting acquainted with him, he decided to visit the tourist spots of Darjeeling. He held out his hand to his friend. In the meanwhile, it was strange to see Farrar talking in English with the foreign tourists he met. It was decided to go for a walk in the nearby shop after having a simple tea and breakfast.

“Where did the last two doos come from?”

“From Nepal.”

‘Oh! Is it possible that the strike towards Nepal has stopped? He used to get bored at first. ‘

“We don’t have such a ban now either.”

“The prime minister returns to Nepal every month,” he said. Who is the Prime Minister of Nepal now? ‘The shopkeeper wanted to enter into Nepal’s political issues.

Rule of the country

I was not so happy when the tea shop reminded me of the same tension when it came out to be fresh after the wrong attitude of the top leaders in the policy.

“This Momo is going to be fed by one person only,” said Suyash of Vikesh’s team. They got up by paying 20 rupees (Indian rupees) per shop. It was a surprise for them to be able to eat for only Rs.

When they reach the crossroads, tourists get on horseback and get distracted. You can ride a tall and strong horse around here. Even those who had never ridden a horse wanted to get rid of it.

“Brothers, you have come from Nepal. Have you seen the statue of Bhanubhakta at our crossroads?”

“Look, sir.”

‘Bhanubhakta is a great man born in Nepal. But, there (Adikavi in Nepal), Hriya (in India) is a complete poet again, you know? ‘

Ghodawal’s mysterious question was new to everyone. “No, I don’t understand what you are saying, brother.”

‘Half of the body of a devotee is in Nepal. When you look at the heart, you see the statue of the whole body, that’s why Utaka, etc., the whole poet of Yata, ‘Ghodawal’s joke made the team laugh.

“Wow, people here are so funny, they know how to laugh, even if they are strangers, they start talking to tourists and laugh,” said Suyash.

During the day, I visited Darjeeling’s main tourist attractions, including Nightingale Park, Rock Garden, and Zoo. If you write a biography of a Nepali who walked with you as a guide, it will be a different novel. However, it was not possible for them to reach Darjeeling.

Hundreds of people were found walking around during the day or staying at the hotel in the evening, attracted by the love, style and hospitality of the people of Darjeeling. He was even more impressed by the Darjeeling’s habit of talking and behaving like strangers with strangers.

‘The brothers have only one day to walk, the main tourist spot is Tiger Hill tomorrow morning. You can’t visit Darjeeling in one day, ‘Hotel Sahu advised them to stay here for a few days.

The average height is 2100 meters. Cold weather Millions of local and foreign tourists visit Darjeeling every year. Thousands of tourists from third countries come to see the history and prosperity of Darjeeling. Visitors from South India, including the elderly and children, come here every year to escape the heat. Hundreds of students and youths from the western districts of Nepal visit Darjeeling. Visitors are drawn to the well-organized houses, markets, and tourist attractions at the risk of high mountains. Darjeeling has a special tradition of welcoming guests with tea and biscuits. The ‘Sagun’ walkers are also delighted to be able to satisfy the hospitality, he said.

After the Anglo-Nepalese War, the Sugauli Treaty of 20 March 1872 established the Nepal-India border on the Mechi River in the east. After the treaty, Nepal had to evacuate the fort from Mechi to Tista via Nagarigadhi within 40 days. The Srinath Singh platoon at Nagarigadhi in Mirik then moved to the present Ilam headquarters via Purnedanda, Namsaling in Ilam Karfok. Thousands of Nepalis remained there.

Fog-covered Darjeeling.
The festival is celebrated every year in the Nepali-speaking Darjeeling region. Dashain comes, Tihar comes, Chhath, Maghe, Saune Sankranti, Buddha Jayanti, Phaguparva, Bihebatulo, Bratbandha and all other festivals come. . However, even though the festival is the same, the spirit of the festival is different in Nepal and in Darjeeling, a Nepali-speaking neighborhood. Nepali-speaking people living in Darjeeling prioritize their Gurkha culture and identity when celebrating every festival. Everyone reflects the same culture on holidays. During the festival, men wear Daura-Suruwal, Bhadgaonle / Dhaka hats. Khukuri fills the waist. Gunyu, Chaubandi Cholo and Patuki are not left on a woman’s body.

At this time, Darjeeling has been touched by Dashain-Tihar. The market is full of shoppers. The weeds that have grown around the house during the rainy season have started to be uprooted and covered. Nepali-speaking people here do not go out for shopping. Only a handful of people come to Siliguri for shopping.

In Darjeeling, Sikkim, Mirik, Kharsang, Kalimpong, Siliguri and other areas, Dashain, Tihar and other festivals are celebrated with joy. Gyanendra Aryal, a writer from Darjeeling, says, “In Nepal, it is customary to celebrate festivals from house to house. Here, Nepali-speaking people celebrate the festival by having a lot of fun together.” Each caste wears its own cultural costume on Bhanu Jayanti, which is celebrated as a festival and an annual festival. “We celebrate the festival by dressing up in Nepali costumes and the 13/14 castes here in their own cultural attire,” he said.

Deposits are kept at Ghatsthapana. Worship of Nava Durga Bhavani is started. A procession is taken out on the day of flowering. The procession also reflects its own traditions and culture. On the day of Navami, a sacrifice is organized at the Darjeeling Police Headquarters. On the day of Vijayadashami, Rajatika is worn, Tika and blessings are taken from relatives. This process continues for 5 days after Vijaya Dashami and it is customary to stop vaccination on the day of Punirma.

Bhupi Sherchan has been much discussed till date. Nepali poets have been learning a lot from him. That is why they are our common school. Bhupi Sherchan wrote a trend poem. Since then, there have been many trends in poetry writing. New poets have started writing in different languages, styles and thoughts. But, he is the foundation, our revered poet.

Every poet who looks at society has his own vision. Bhupi Sherchan vision of politics, society, country and the world was of a very high order. In every one of his works, any subject is found to be viewed critically. His critical look seems very powerful. This is his strength. I don’t think such a sharp poet who looks critically at society and time has ever been born in Nepal. Bhupi Sherchan

Bhupi Sherchan
Bhupi Sherchan

The political consciousness in Bhupi Sherchan seems to be just as profound. Nowadays, some poets who write very good poems do not have political consciousness at all. Even a poet who asked for a republic yesterday and ate sticks and bullets in the process, while writing a poem today, opposes federalism. If that was the case, he would have become a monarchist without asking for a republic!

Bhupi Sherchan, on the other hand, had ideological clarity. Politically, he also has a lot of critical power. Other great poets do not have that power.

It is an immortal poem with a satirical tone when it comes to ‘blind man on a swivel chair’. The title itself is a whole poem. This poem full of political satire has severely whipped the rulers and abbots of that time. The style of governance of those who are not qualified is respected.

Even in terms of beauty, this poem is lyrical and rhythmic. Music is found in his poems. Even though prose is poetry, writing in verse is sweeter and more powerful than those who say I am. Bhupi Sherchan

Politically, the poem ‘Ghumne Mech’ is still relevant. Such a poem is never old. Let’s see now, those in power seem to be walking without the same plan, thinking and foundation as the previous rulers. There is a journey of confusion and conjecture.

Such a poem is enough to cure them. But, there is a problem in consciousness and sensation when there are rulers with rhino skin. Democracy has given freedom of expression, but the rulers will also have the right not to listen to you. This is the weakest aspect of democracy. It gives the right to speak, does not censor poetry, but it is not listened to. It is written to die, but who cares if it is not heard? The regime has a disease of cultivating a culture of silence and ignoring any voice. Bhupi Sherchan

Bhupi Sherchan had such a beautiful time, which made him Bhupi Sherchan. There was no freedom of expression during the Panchayat period, when it was easy for poets to establish their values. The police would have arrested him without giving him a beating through poetry. It also raised the value of the poet.

The value of any creation depends on how long it was written and how much response it received. Written but without any response is of no value. The person you hit with your finger had to say ‘Aiya’. The timing of such a reaction was strong before, but now it is weak.

At one point, Bhupi Sherchan was interviewed. In it, he wrote a poem saying that he would overthrow this government. A poet had that courage and faith. At that time, poets used to walk with their chests wide. Now the government and the rulers are happy no matter how much they are hit by poetry. He slaps his back as if to say, ‘Don’t hit me, I haven’t come to the discussion yet’. Bhupi Sherchan

Bhupi Sherchan also had a world consciousness of his time. At the time, he was writing a letter to Ho Chi Minh, a Vietnamese leader with a legacy of communist ideology. At that time, many Nepali poets may not have even heard of Ho-chi. Bhupi Sherchan

Bhupi Sherchan seems to be aware of what kind of political movement is going on in the world. Now you can easily know what is happening in the world from Facebook and Twitter. At that time, technology was not so accessible. If there was a movement for poetry in the UK, it would be known here years later. Such an uncomfortable time has given birth to Bhupi Sherchan.

Bhupi Sherchan
Bhupi Sherchan

He has written very powerful words like ‘Blind man on a swivel chair’ and ‘Land of noise’. But, from the point of view of art, I like his other poems better than this one. The ‘candle flame’ is in my throat. ‘We’ and ‘My Chowk’ are also unique. Bhupi Sherchan

However, the value of ‘blind man on a swivel chair’ is different as it has been satirized at the border. Even though it is satirized, it is done in polite, cultured and poetic language. Another aspect of how much satire works in the relevant place. Because our society is a society that only wakes up when it comes to teasing with firewood. The rulers returned, but there was no one in poetry and literature who could hear the voice of the people. Bhupi Sherchan

Buddhist Philosophy :It is also heard in the course of life, ‘What is to be brought after death?’ This saying has its own place in many kinds of life philosophy. In the same way, it is heard that ‘come empty handed and go empty handed’. In both cases there is a clear materialistic view. Probably the oldest idea in the ideological world is materialism and the tradition of thinking about religion or spiritualism started when this question could not answer or satisfy many people’s questions. Surprisingly, even so-called spiritualists live with the attitude of ‘coming empty-handed and going empty-handed’, asking ‘what is to be gained by dying?’ From this, it can be understood that people have leaned towards materialism or have been unknowingly influenced by mercury.

In the world of philosophy, materialism is also known as ‘Lokayat’. The Vedas or Vedic philosophy is also old. However, this was greatly challenged by the Lokayat (other materialists, including Charvakal). In some respects, this is probably the reason for having a materialist view even within Vedic philosophy. The reform, revolt or revolution in Vedic thought can also be understood as the emergence of the Bhagavat sect. In the field of theology, the presence of Gautama Buddha (563-483 BC) in the sixth century BC is a turning point, his presence has completely eroded the traditional philosophical values and established a pillar of different beliefs. Buddhist Philosophy

That is why on the one hand not only the traditional Vedic but also other contemporary ideologues including Nirgranth (Jain) and on the other hand materialists stood up against Gautama Buddha. The Buddha’s tolerant, sociable, religious harmony, etc., are literally adorned, but they are in fact imaginary. The Buddha, like the eternalist, has explicitly called the materialist view a false vision. In this context, the question of ‘what is to be brought after death?’ Buddhist Philosophy

There is a popular saying to do karma but not to expect karma. According to this, man has no hand in coming and going in this world. He is being operated by a different power. To put it more simply, this whole world is just a theater and human life is nothing but a fabricated drama. The status of a human being is only a character in that play. The director of the play is someone else, who has been given different names by different followers. But Gautama Buddha did not approve of this dramatic approach and preached the doctrine of karma. The Buddha’s doctrine of karma, based on the principle of causation, is fundamentally different from others. Buddhist Philosophy

Buddhism is based on the belief of impermanence or ephemerality. Accordingly, the present world is based on the karma of pre-birth. The determination of the future is also based on the karma of the present. If one side is in its place to suffer the consequences of doing good deeds in this life or to suffer by doing bad deeds, then the suffering may happen in the next birth as well. This next birth does not mean just one but one of many births. Man is not the only one born to experience karma. According to karma, the creature is born again and again in many vaginas and enjoys the fruits of its karma. Buddhist Philosophy

What is the result of which karma is determined automatically by karma and not by any other power or element. It is also called karma vipaka. There are different people in Buddhist belief, Devalok is one of them. Those who have accumulated virtue by doing good deeds will be born in the heavens and become gods. But the gods die even if they live long. As the amount of virtue decays, there is detachment (death) from it, and in order to experience another karma, one has to go to another world or vagina to be born automatically. The Buddha defined this continuum of life as sorrow. The Buddha does not answer the question of when this continuance of sorrow began, but the summary of the teachings or sermons preached for 45 years from the time of attaining enlightenment until Mahaparinirvana is how to get rid of sorrow. Buddhist Philosophy

The direct answer to the question, “What is to be brought after death?” Is the fruit of karma. If one has done good and virtuous deeds, virtue is accumulated accordingly and good condition can be attained by virtue of virtue even when this human being comes into the world along with other people. Buddhists rejoice that they have done a good deed in the past and that this opportunity is due to the influence of that virtue, when they get to listen to the religion in the company of a good guru. If it is good in 7,000 other contexts, then the same love sentence is found to be uttered. In the same way, sometimes in this life you have to experience the karma that you are not doing. Or, even if he has not done a good job, he is getting good results. Buddhist Philosophy

This is the state of being left with the pleasure of doing good or bad deeds in another birth. Though like in previous births, the thought of doing good deeds, earning virtue and making progress in this birth can also be developed and the flow of life takes a turn accordingly. Maudgalyayanan, a leading monk of Gautama Buddha, was freed from the cycle of birth and death, but some robbers were ready to kill him. He knew in advance that someone was coming to kill him, and he would immediately disappear under the influence of his power and avoid falling prey to the robbers. When such incidents happen again and again, he is forced to think, why is an assassination attempt being made? While searching for the cause of this, a flood. Buddhist Philosophy

It is also heard in the course of life, ‘What is to be brought after death?’ This saying has its own place in many kinds of life philosophy.

Buddhist Philosophy

In this context, the question of ‘what is to be brought after death?’

What is the result of which karma is determined automatically by karma and not by any other power or element. It is also called karma vipaka. Buddhist Philosophy

Bhushan Dahal : I was born in 2023 in Kathmandu. I am the only son of my parents. I completed my schooling from St. Xavier’s School in Kantishwari, Budhanilkantha. After passing SLC in first class, my parents forced me to study science. Another belief that is still there is that after passing the SLC First Division, one should study science. According to the same belief, I was admitted to Amrit Science College. The education there was not very good. So I could not read science well. I decided to leave science and study humanities and enrolled in Trichandra College. There I passed BA in Economics, Politics and English.

Bhushan Dahal did my MA in Sociology. When and how did you get into television? I did not come to work in television and make a future out of it. It was around 1988, I was 20-21 years old, I was studying BA. A friend asked me to work in the morning broadcast on Nepal Television. I was empty. I started working in Nepal Television from the day after that friend proposed. The first day’s work was to wrap the wires there. I still don’t consider any work small or big. Bhushan Dahal fulfill my responsibilities honestly. That’s what I did then. I have entered television from absolutely zero level. Later I worked as a program producer. I used to make simple programs. What was the salary? 20 rupees a day. I didn’t say give 600 rupees a month, but the giver said that 20 rupees a day is the final.

Going every day, working, going home to get 20 rupees. If I didn’t go to get the work done today, the money is gone. I would not have thought that I would work the next day and take 40 rupees. What did you do for 20 rupees on the first day? Don’t remember Maybe smoke. How much did you work I used to work hard. Singha Durbar used to come on foot from Kupandol. Bhushan Dahal worked 15 to 18 hours. I never thought I would make a living working on television. However, I did not want to limit my work to a job. So I was more focused on work. Arubela used to make various comments about television.

Now he himself has entered television. After plowing, I felt that there was no more charity. I had a lot of desire to learn. But, teaching was less. At that time, my editor friend Rabindra Pandey encouraged me a lot. Did you dream of making a future in television? In fact, I had no dreams. I had no plan to become this or that. I had the energy. I had the courage to stay where Bhushan Dahal was. Again, I didn’t have to plan. When did the thought of freezing on TV come from? You see, I jumped into the sea without knowing how to swim. I had no choice but to learn to swim. Thousands of hours were spent working on it, just meeting people. Now I am enjoying the work I am doing. The sea is for people who don’t know any area. You must know how to swim before jumping into it.

There is no alternative but to learn after jumping without knowing how to swim. After learning, the sea voyage begins to be fun. Since when do you think, now I am known among the audience? I also pulled features. Although I did many other things, the Sunday Pop program introduced me. Due to the novelty of the program, the program became popular. Then I ran the program ‘Reflection’. It also became popular to some extent. Then I also made a lot of documentaries. Anything that failed in life?  Bhushan Dahal worked for Nepal Television for nine and a half years. Then the image channel opened and Bhushan Dahal started working on it. After Image Channel, I set up a software company called Divyadrishti International. But, perhaps because of the time, it was either Fapen or my decision was wrong.

It was then that Bhushan Dahal learned the lesson that I should do the work that suits me. But, at the same time, I envisioned and produced the guideline program. I made a commitment, I only do 12 episodes. Then I left. It is to be remembered that I have convinced the so-called journalist Vijay Kumar Pandey to give that program. Then I joined Kantipur. A couple of friends suggested to me, ‘You are also mature, do political talk.’ In 2003, I started Fireside. It’s been 15 years since the fireside program began. Bhushan Dahal don’t know how many viewers like it, how many don’t. But, I am ready to present the dose demanded by the eyes and ears of the general audience. What was the reaction after starting the fireside? I didn’t even have a background working in the news.

Maybe that’s why when I started Fireside, some of my senior journalist friends called me a ‘gimmick’. As soon as the program started, he would say, “He came to the gimmick.” Such a comment made me angry. I still started working hard. I thought that Bhushan Dahal would not leave without seeing it. Now those friends are silent. Maybe I showed that! However, this assessment is to be made by the audience, not me. How many interviews have you done so far? It’s been 15 years since I started running Fireside. During this period, I interviewed more than 400 stakeholders in various fields. Any unforgettable interviews? I will never forget an interview. We had reached Dolpa to make a behind-the-scenes video called ‘Sa Karnali …’. We also invited Thinley from Dolpa to play in the caravan.

We are in a tired posture We were leaning against the rock. At that moment, the tone changed and I said to my friends, ‘Hey boy, Thinley will give an interview or come and ask!’ Thinley came to give an interview if he asked everything. Maja sat on the rock and gave an interview. Bhushan Dahal have never had such an honest interview in my career. He was a man from a remote place. He was very pure by nature. He did not worry about what he felt. He would just say no. Have you thought about retirement? I am the only earner in my family. My children are no longer able to earn a living. So I work as long as I can. Again, age does not seem to stop working. American television personality Larry King is still interviewing. David Frost from the UK gave an interview to the end of his life.

I’m not tired either. How do you see the current state of Nepali television? There are more televisions in Nepal now. Too much, too little. It is unfortunate that the general international norms of television operation have not yet been implemented in some televisions. There is no match between demand and supply in a single sentence. Therefore, televisions are not able to become commercial. At present, televisions have not been able to move forward commercially except for a handful. What can be done to improve it? We have to change our thinking. We have to get rid of the thinking that what is going on is free and we have to develop the thinking that we should do what is good. Be socially responsible. You should be able to give programs and news according to the wishes of the audience. Bhushan Dahal

Employees should be made happy. What about the condition of television workers? There are also good television workers in Nepal. But, I also see some of them, which are not accepted by technology, the viewers are not interested and also come on the screen. This is also hampering the professionalism of television and television workers. What qualities should a skilled television worker have? When it comes to the screen, the first thing you have to accept is technology. Then comes study and knowledge. There is a belief that you have to look good on the television screen, what do you say? I would say that the first condition is that the camera accepts and passes the audio. There may be those who are good looking, there may be those who are less. Bhushan Dahal

What do you want to say to those who are looking for their future in the field of television? It should be like a tiger, in a herd of deer, the tiger hunts whatever it sees. In the same way, we have to struggle until we succeed in the field in which we jump in life. We have to recognize our potential and move forward accordingly. I am surprised to hear that today’s youth have not been able to get involved in any field. We have not been frozen in the same area for years, the youth still have to break many mountains, huge rivers have to cross. Where is the progress in life now by being frustrated? If you have the ability to sing, you should not run to see a person who has reached great heights to become a big businessman. If you concentrate on singing, you can be known as a great singer. Bhushan Dahal

If a big businessman who has reached that height thinks that he will leave his business and sing, his business will be quadrupled. The same is true on television. This is a very sad deed. After jumping into it, one should be ready to face many challenges. You can’t even leave in the middle. But, after getting success, it is rarely as much fun as others. So only jump in this area if you travel long distances. Let’s talk in a slightly different context. After the formation of the Left government, you have interviewed various leaders of the ruling party. They talk about economic prosperity in every speech. Do you believe that the country will prosper in five years or not? I do not think so. Prosperity requires preparation, schedule, is that preparation? If a country could be built by giving speeches, it would be prosperous in a minute or an hour, not five years. Bhushan Dahal

Do you want to say something to the youth who are going abroad without seeing any opportunity in Nepal? Absolutely no one wants to go abroad. He is going abroad after facing financial problems. However, this is a temporary solution. If you want to go abroad and work for others in Nepal, then money is here. The tea shop owner should be determined to make it a big restaurant and work. Farmers should look for possibilities in that and continue the work. The government does not do everything. We must take the lead ourselves. It is time to think about the future of our children if we leave the country because those in government are dishonest. Bhushan Dahal

Kulman Ghising The son of an ordinary farmer who studied in a government school in the remote area of Ramechhap has now succeeded in winning the hearts of the Nepali people. Kulman Ghising, an engineer who freed the country from load-shedding and brought light into everyone’s home, recalls his school experience.

‘I used to study in the village. I used to sit next to Tuki till late at night and read with black smoke on my nose. ‘

Now, after making Kathmandu free from load shedding, Kulman says, “I saw electricity only after I came to Kathmandu.” Kulman Ghising, who is always the first in the school, came to Kathmandu and saw electricity. Now he has turned on the electricity in Bethany. And, not only Bethany, he has become an illuminator of the whole country.

Kulman Ghising’s diary was only presented to the Nepal Electricity Authority for the last two years and went home. NEA did not give him any responsibility after he was dragged to the center from Chilime. But, when he came to be the executive director, he has already shown what he can do. The load shedding free campaign started by Kulman is getting all-round praise. After all, who is Kulman Ghising?

Wherever you go, wherever you teach, always first!

Kulman’s primary education was spent in the village. He was always school first. After passing 5th class, he came to Kathmandu with his brothers. His brother lived in Baneshwor and ran the Thanka business.

After coming to Kathmandu, Kulman Ghisingwas enrolled in class 7 in the government school Balseva Secondary School, which was run by his brothers. Kulman was also the first there.

However, after the second boy Siddhartha went to Banasthali, the teachers suggested that it was better for him to go to the boarding school. The brothers enrolled him in Amaras Boarding. Kulman Ghisingwas first there too.

What was the magic that always went first no matter which school you went to?
“It’s my hard work,” Kulman Ghisingsaid with a laugh.

He also proved that power projects can be successfully built with Nepal’s investment, which became a turning point for his personal career.

Many in the SLC had hoped Kulman Ghisingwould be on the board. His second son Mahesh Dhakal fell on the board. However, Kulman’s number 4 did not reach. He then did ISC from Askal Campus.

He then went to India to study on a scholarship. After doing BSc Electrical Engineer from Jamshedpur in 1994, he returned home around 1951 BS and became a seventh level engineer in Nepal Electricity Authority.

While studying, he did his Masters in Power Systems Engineering from Pulchowk Engineering Campus.

Kulman Ghisingdid his thesis on ‘Integrated Resource Planning with Demand Side Management’. Now that he is the MD of NEA, he is working on it and is becoming successful. Her studies and work go hand in hand.

Kulman Ghisingis not only an engineer but also a skilled manager. He has also done EMBA in Management from Pokhara University, which has also given him expertise in the field of management.

“I predicted at the time that load-shedding would happen in 2005, and that’s what’s happening,” he said.

Kulman’s study is on how to reduce the load from the demand area of electricity? And how to do ‘resource planning’ of the overall integrated load? In Kulman’s study, not only supply but also the demand side generates power. Similarly, if the ‘peak load’ can be reduced, that is the ‘demand side’.

Chilime became the turning point

While working in NEA, Kulman Ghisinggot the responsibility of Chilime. When he was in the tenth level. He also proved that the power project can be successfully built with Nepal’s investment, which became a turning point for his personal career.

Kulman Ghisingnot only made the project a success more than expected, but also made the locals millionaires by giving shares. Saying that he has worked very hard in Chilime, Kulman says, “We have opened our eyes on how to use Nepal’s resources in Chilime.” Chilime had given the courage that even 1000 MW can be made by Nepalis. ‘

After the brokers started snatching the shares of Chilime from the hands of the people, Ghising returned the shares worth around Rs. 70 million from the same village. Due to this incident, the people of Rasuwa have kept Kulman in the lurch.

But, unfortunately, Kulman Ghisingwas removed from the project and dragged to the center of NEA. After coming to the center, he did not get any responsibility for about two years. For almost two years, it became a daily routine to go to the office and show up and return home. The situation was such that he was in the mood to resign.

Also read: Tim Kulman! Who are on the team to eliminate load shedding?

He was in the mood to resign after seeing the theft and black marketing of electricity on the one hand and the people being forced to suffer from load shedding on the other. However, the government trusted him and gave him the responsibility and he has already given a positive signal that something can be done in the country in a period of almost two months.

Some of the NEA have opposed Kulman Ghising saying that he is a junior person even though he is the MD of NEA. However, Kulman Ghisinghas responded to the so-called seniors by resigning from the permanent job of NEA as soon as he becomes the MD. Kulman’s permanent job was still 12 years away.

Kulman Ghising, now 47, has termed the chair of the NEA’s MD as a ‘hot chair’. He says it would be difficult for an older person to work in such a chair. “Something can be done now, decision-making ability

Yes, no one is afraid to put me in jail, you can work continuously from 7 am to 10 am, ‘says Kulman. The body does not support. So I had to be able to work, not senior or junior. ‘

kulman-ghising-1

According to him, the MD post of NEA is a ‘hot seat’. After 58 years, there is nothing that can be done by keeping someone there. Even if he gets applause now, why not himself. His analysis is, ‘When I have the passion to do something, I have the ability to make decisions, I am considered an idol. When you reach the age of 58, the energy is left, and you can put it in the hot seat? ‘

Kulman Ghising adds, “I think something can be done if I get a platform.” Chilime was a platform. That’s the decent thing to do, and it should end there. ”

“I almost never became a secretary.”

After studying in India, Kulman Ghising had applied for the job in three places including NEA. Leaving the ministry and the aviation department, he chose the authority, because he felt that only paper work would be done elsewhere. If it is in the authority, it is practical.

After working in NEA for a long time, the desire to go to the policy level has not gone unnoticed. For some time, the name of a joint secretary was also mentioned in the advertisement opened by the public service.

But, another was chosen in the interview. “If I had been the joint secretary at that time, I would have become the secretary,” he says with a laugh.

Kulman Ghising has now given up thinking of going to the ‘policy level’. “I think it’s the right time to show the platform I’ve got and the potential I have,” he says.

Culture In Nepal  : Among the majority castes in Nepal, the Kewat or Kewart caste is a major caste in the Terai. These castes have been involved in agriculture from the very beginning. Aryamul is counted as a backward caste in the Terai. Agriculture seems to be moving forward by making agricultural production and sale of agricultural commodities its traditional occupation.

Culture in nepal

In the early days of the Hindu caste system, after the origin of the Brahmanical scriptures by the Brahmins, the Kevart class was kept as a pure caste. The Hindu scriptures Ramayana and Mahabharata also mention these castes who have been living in the Terai region since ancient times. Incidents such as Lord Rama eating the false beer of Sabari and a person from the Malhar caste crossing the river in his name with the help of Shri Ram are reminiscent of the saying of the great poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota that ‘a man with a big heart is not a caste’. Francis Buchanan, a foreign scholar who has studied the people of the Hindu Aryan race, writes of Kewat or Kiot, “Kewart had the status of a Brahmin in Assam and Vyas in Bengal.” culture in nepal

In Nepal, these castes have not been given the same importance as the farming castes, so education, consciousness and awareness of the potential seems to be increasing the respect. There are four sub-castes or groups in the Kevartas including Ghakhait, Sadya, Dhima and Bahikiyot. The Kevarta people live in almost all the districts of the Eastern Terai of Nepal from Jhapa to Parsa. Goddesses Kali, Gahil and Gauraya are the main deities of the Kevarta caste while the Kevarta caste celebrates festivals like other Hindu castes. Some of the worship related to crop farming is of a special kind. culture in nepal

Other Dalit castes in the Terai:

Dusadya caste: – Dusadya caste has been living in the Terai region for centuries. Since Dusadya caste is classified as Dalit caste of Tarai, it would be appropriate to give reservation as Dalit caste of Nepal instead. While listing as Dalit and reserved caste, justice will be done to this backward caste in many areas.

This caste, which is also discriminated against by the Constitution of Nepal (2063 BS), still has to struggle very hard to ensure its rights. He says that the Rana rulers took away the land of their ancestors from the Dusadya people who used to have a lot of land in the Terai. In India or Aryavarta, the term Dalit was used today to refer to the Shudra caste or the caste serving Brahmins and Kshetris. culture in nepal

The Dusadya caste, classified as the Dalit caste of the Tarai, worships Sahales, their original male deity, and at the same time worships all Hindu deities. Especially they worship Lord Sahales, Bhagwati, Kalibandi, Satyanarayana, Mahamaya, Lord Vishnu and Ganesha. Dusadya is also called Paswan or Pasi. Dalit leader and former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan is famous in Paswan Thar.

According to the 2068 census, the population of Dusadya or Paswan caste in Nepal is 20,910. The oldest place or connection of the Dusadya caste is with the palace of King Kulheshwar of Pakdihan in Siraha district of Nepal. These castes were known in the court as watchmen, soldiers, heroes and mighty men. Similarly, the ruby baths, bathing arenas, worship places, etc. used by Sahales are still referred to as Sahales Bagh or Phulbari. Not only Paswan or Dusadya castes but also other Hindu sects worship Sahales Maharaj. culture in nepal

The worship of Sahales Maharaj is celebrated with pomp and circumstance on the first day of the year, i.e. on the 1st of Baisakh, B.C. On the same day, i.e. on 1st April, the Dusadya caste sings songs based on the folklore of Sahales Maharaj and also performs dances. Similarly, worship and programs are also held at a place called Sahales Than in Siraha district. In ancient times, it is believed that these areas were ruled by the heroic and ancestral Dusadya caste. The people of these castes including Golo, Datri, especially Dusadya, Paswan or Hazara are their surnames. They are also seen in other areas.culture in nepal

The ancient land of the Dusadyas is considered to be the Siraha district of present day Nepal and the adjoining areas of Siraha district of Bihar state of India.

The Paswans of the Dusadya caste have five pasis including Kamur, Kurna, Maghaiya Sur Jahar and Paliwar. Dusadya people also say that Dusadya people have their own ancestors. In the past, the dusadyas who took care of their parents were called Kamur and the children who did not take care of their parents were called Kurna. Similarly, the children who ran away from Magha out of fear of their parents were called Paliwar and the children who cared only for their own children rather than their parents. In the Dusadya caste, social activities mainly include birth, Chhathiyar, Nawaran, Annaprashan, Chuda Karma, marriage and death rites. The child is born six days . culture in nepal

In Barkhi Barda, only the eldest son stays in Kiria, but on the thirteenth day, it is customary to be completely cleansed of lies. The Dusadya caste has been celebrating festivals like the people of other Hindu sects. Although the Dusadya caste, which is one of the backward Dalit castes in Nepal, prefers to call themselves the upper class of Dalits, most of the Dusadya castes have fallen behind in the economic and social spheres. culture in nepal

Nepal is a sovereign independent nation. Nepal has its own national flag. Nepal’s national flag is triangular in shape. Nepal’s national flag is the only non-quadrilateral national flag in the world and one of only two quadrangular government flags (the other flag is from the state of Ohio in the United States). The flag of Nepal is made up of two triangles (one above the other). In the upper triangle there is a crescent moon and in the lower one there is a sun, which indicates that Nepal will remain as long as the moon and sun remain in the sky.

The red and blue colors seen in Nepal’s national flag and the sun and moon have their own characteristics. Just as the sky is blue, the blue border on our flag indicates that Nepal is as wide as the sky. Red is considered a symbol of revolution. The red ground in the middle says that it is a heroic land saved by the ancestors of Nepal by shedding blood and it is revolutionary.

For the people of every nation, their national flag is as dear as life itself. Our flag is flown at the United Nations office along with the flags of independent nations around the world. Tenzing Norgay, the first Nepali to win Mount Everest, hoisted the same flag on Mount Everest. In this way, the Nepali flag has succeeded in keeping its pride in the world. The flag of Nepal, made of two triangles meaning sacrifice, peace and prosperity, is considered to be especially attractive in the world. It has eight corners of the moon and 12 corners of the sun.

Such is the history of the national flag of Nepal  in the world

According to its researchers, before using the national flag, soldiers used to tie different colored cloths on the battlefield. Although no concrete evidence of the date of the flag’s use has been found so far, colored clothing was flown at certain locations to gather troops on the battlefield. Later, these garments were used in special shapes and colors on the battlefield as the national flag. By the 19th century, each country had chosen and used its own national flag.

It is said that cloth flags were first used by China, India or Romans, but this has not been confirmed. Evidence has been found that a white flag was used during the Zhao Dynasty in China in 1126 BC.

The world’s oldest national flag is considered to be the Danish flag, which was first used in 1219. Then in 1339, Switzerland also used its national flag. By the 19th century, each country had chosen its own national flag. In the United States, JL Hudson made the largest flag in the world.

Built on June 14, 1949, the flag was 325 feet long and 104 feet wide. Weighing 1,500 pounds, the flag was flown in the United States on June 14 each year, a practice that continues to this day. The 50 stars on the American flag indicate 50 states. Similarly, India’s tricolor, meaning three colors, signifies heroism, peace and prosperity.

 How old is  Nepal ?

Old  Nepal, Nepal has existed since about 5000 years ago. It is not based on any caste, it is a country based on geography. That is why the people living here first consider themselves Nepali and their caste. There is a history of Licchavis living here for thousands of years, there are Khashas living here, there were Kirats, all of them lived in here .It is not the name of any caste, it is the name of pure geography and within this geography, various castes, various religions and cultural traditions are living. Nepal has never been an ethnic state or a religious state.

The existence of it in South Asia is very old. Bishal Nepal had only its neighbors like Kramas Gandhar, Panchal, Kuru etc. The country existed 900 years before AD. Maurya has a history of removing the Nanda dynasty of King Dhan Nanda in a place called Pataliputra, establishing a Gupta dynasty in that place and helping Chandra Gupta to become king.

The other two kingdoms at that time were Chera [Madras] Magat; the kingdom was when Ashoka came to Nepal after the establishment of the Gupta dynasty and he started building the Ashoka Pillar at Lumbini in honor . After that, Ashoka came to Kathmandu, the then capital . He was accompanied by his daughter. Ashoka married his daughter Charumati to the King of Nepal. The monastery built by Charumati for worship is now called Charumati Bihar and is now called Chabahil.

A map  appears around 350 AD, which has been the subject of research. Nepal’s intellectuals and historians need to do a thorough research on this subject and put pressure on it to be included in Nepal’s curriculum.

At that time Nepal was ruled by the Kirats. At the same time, the Licchavis came to Nepal from Baishali and removed the Kirats. Etc. Around 625 A.D., the same Licchavika Mawli Thakurs were removed. The then Nepali king Narendra Dev fled to Tibet and took refuge in Tibet and re-established the Licchavi rule in 640 AD with the help of Tibet. After that, the unification of Nepal started in the Lichhavi period. From 650-700 BCE, the Licchavi Kalin kings united the territory east of Sinja and the territory west of Kramus Nepal, and the border of Nepal from Jammu and Kashmir to Jalpaiguri became Nepal’s territory.

During this time, the border of Nepal was maintained up to Kamakhya Kamaruksha-[Burmaputra] river .It was a Baishali kingdom. After the unification of this kingdom with Nepal, Champaran and Betiya also merged into Nepal. Thus, Nepal has become huge. Meanwhile, around the 11th century, anarchy spread in the neighboring kingdom of Greater Nepal and with the end of the Gupta dynasty, about 1000 small brown Takure kingdoms were established.

The same effect was felt in Nepal. The Licchavi rule was weakened. The king here  at that time was Mandev. The feudal lord of Kathmandu was Ansubarma. Kathmandu was the capital . The feudal lord of this capital was Anshuvarma. The center could not stop everyone from declaring themselves independent. As a result, It was divided into different sections. After the partition, the state called Nepal was limited to the valley. That is why it was called Nepal. After Nepal was limited to the valley, it was also divided into Kantipur, Bhaktapur, Kirtipur and other states.
Gorkha is one of the 50th states of Nepal divided in this way. The poor state of Gorkha was reunited by King Prithivinarayan Shah. We were also unable to save.

The existence of Nepal in South Asia is very old. Bishal Nepal had only its neighbors like Kramas Gandhar, Panchal, Kuru etc. The country called Nepal existed 900 years before AD. Maurya has a history of removing the Nanda dynasty of King Dhan Nanda in a place called Pataliputra, establishing a Gupta dynasty in that place and helping Chandra Gupta to become king.

While reading half of the history, it was said that Nepal is only a valley. So the intellectuals of present day Nepal; Historians need to do more detailed research and make the true facts of the reality public, otherwise those who already know it may give the illusion that the Terai does not belong to Nepal.

The origin of the word ‘Nepal’

The origin of the word ‘Nepal’ is not so clear. The oldest and most reliable experiment is found in the Allahabad column of Emperor Samudragupta (335-475), which refers to the king of Nepal bowing to the emperor. The earliest mention  is found in the Tistung settlement on the way to and from the valley: ‘Swasti to the ruler of Nepal’.Of course, ‘Nepal’ is found in abundance in the classical writings of India, as in the so-called Vedic Atharva Appendix, in Kautilya’s Arthashastra, in some editions of the Mahabharata, in some Buddhist and Jain texts. But even when ‘Nepal’ is used in these documents, the origin of the word and how old the use is cannot be ascertained.

Old Nepal-Notes Nepal
Old Nepal

If we look at the documents within Nepal, we do not find the definition of ‘Nepal’ in the ‘Gopal Dynasty’ of 1300 AD and other genealogies of the same time, but in the later local genealogy (mainly 1820-1880) we find the interpretation and analysis of the name ‘Nepal’. . In these later Hindu and Buddhist documents, it is claimed that the origin of ‘Nepal’ was either from a cow named Ne Muni or from an Adibuddha of the same name.

History Shiromani Baburam Acharya initially thought that ‘Nepal’ was a corruption of the old name ‘Nepar’ but later he also came up with the word ‘Newar’ as culturalization. This conclusion is also credible because we find the non-Sanskrit origin of the names of rivers, canals, thumka, tar, chaur etc. found in the old records of Nepal. Studies of the names of many rivers and their distortions have shown that Tibetan-Burmese names have been cultured.
