Gaidhawa : To Erase The Glimpse Of Fewatal

Gaidhawa

Gaidhawa : Few people have heard of Gaidhawa Lake. Listen and how? The government recently selected 100 new tourist destinations and made them public. But Gaidhawa Lake could not be included in the destination list. Similarly, the Tourism Promotion Office has not given importance to it. Despite being ignored by the authorities, Gaidhawa Lake is the main destination for prolonging the stay of tourists in the Terai through water tourism.

Gaidhawa Lake, 7 km north of Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, seems to be one of the five major destinations in the state. The state government has allocated budget for Gajedi Lake of Rupandehi and Jagadashipur Lake of Kapilvastu in the current year.

Observers say that the beautiful view of the setting sun when it returns to Gaidhawa Lake erases the glare of Rara Lake. The return of Siberian birds in the sky and the shadows in the lake water are indescribable. The beauty of the lake is enhanced by the greenery of the stork and bakulla and sal.

Observers say that the beautiful view of the setting sun when it returns to Lake Gaidhawa erases the glare of Rara Lake. The return of Siberian birds in the sky and the shadows in the lake water are indescribable. The beauty of the lake is enhanced by the greenery of the stork and bakulla and sal.

The local government has stated that the lake spread over an area of 78.7 hectares could not be made useful due to lack of adequate budget. Gaidhawa village chairman Bachchulal Kewat said, “Even though we know the importance, we have not been able to make it as it is due to lack of adequate budget.” However, 2 million has been allocated for conservation this year.

Chairman Kewatwal said, “After the launch of large ships at Gautam Buddha International Airport in 2019, tourists visiting Lumbini daily can be served through water tourism at Gaidhawa Lake.” But our budget cannot manage all that. For that, the federal and state governments should help. ‘

“While visiting the Lumbini area, the aim is to bring the heat-stricken tourists here by boat and operate a state-of-the-art restaurant in the vicinity, visit the Martyrs’ Park, arrange fishing in the lake and provide adequate facilities to the tourists and earn foreign exchange,” he said. The local government aims to make it the main destination of model water tourism in the country with the help of the state government and the federal government by keeping it in the project of pride as peace can be achieved by getting out of the noise of the city.

Gaidhawa village municipality has been formed by merging the former Suryapura, Bishnupura, Sari and Jogda VDCs under the name of Gaidhawa Lake. The village municipality is preparing to operate two boats in the lake immediately. Chairman Kewat informed that there is a plan to hold Gaidhawa Festival this year for the protection, enhancement and publicity of the lake.

The village municipality has said that the work will be carried out to create an environment for tourists visiting the Buddha’s birthplace to see Gaidhawa Lake. The villagers expect that the tourists visiting Lumbini will reach the lake one day if it is completed on time. Village Municipality Vice-Chairperson Shubhavwati Yadav said that the work should be carried out as per the target of making Gaidhawa the largest lake in the district.

A team led by lake experts Juddha Bahadur Gurung and Shailendra Pokhrel has prepared a master plan to make Gaidhawa Lake a model lake in the state at a cost of Rs 1.17 billion. However, the master plan has not yet been handed over to any government.

As per the master plan, well-organized parking, reception gate, sidewalk, monorail, two bridges, a suspension bridge, a swimming pool, lake management committee office and conference hall will be constructed in the lake area.

Due to lack of proper management of Gaidhawa Lake, encroachment is taking place from different areas. The community forest has encroached on 737.4 hectares of lake area. Similarly, there is grassland in 59.2 hectares. Locals have been cultivating in an area of 3454.5 hectares. The house has been built in an area of 98.5 hectares. However, the residents of the land used in those houses and farms have not been given spare parts.

Tourists visiting Lumbini will also be able to see another new tourist destination. Even though it is close to Lumbini, Gaidhawa Lake, which has been hidden for years, can become a new tourist destination for locals and tourists alike.

Surrounded by forests on three sides, this lake is attractive and beautiful. Some tourists who come to Lumbini go to Pokhara’s Fewatal to take a boat ride. But, now you can share in Gaidhawa Lake to quench your thirst.

The lake has become a new destination for tourists after the federal, state and local governments started developing it as a tourist destination while conserving it.

This year, Gaidhawa village municipality has brought four steamer boats into operation at a cost of Rs 2 million. Domestic tourists are already flocking to the lake after boating.

A master plan of Gaidhawa Lake has been prepared with the support of the Ministry of Tourism. A road from Lumbini to Gaidhawatal has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 400 million. This lake is 12 km north of Lumbini.

Spread over an area of 84 bighas, the lake has 50 bighas of reservoir area. Experts say that there are 200 species of birds and only 20 species of reptiles in the lake. During the last 12 months, domestic and foreign tourists have been able to see various birds by boat in the lake.

Chairman of Gaindhawa Gaonpalika-4 Bachchulal Kewat said that the promotion and protection of the lake has been started due to lack of publicity.

He said that the village municipality has worked in a planned manner for the promotion of the lake as it is a big and suitable place for tourists in the district. “Tourists come to Lumbini for knowledge and faith. Tensions can be eased after Gaidhawa Lake is located at a distance of about 12 km from there,” said Kewat, chairman of the village.

The village municipality expects the lake to play an important role in prolonging the stay of foreign and domestic tourists. “When the setting sun’s rays hit Gaindhawa Lake, it looks like Phewa and Rara lakes,” he said.

The municipality has organized the festival with the slogan of ‘Infrastructure Development including Agriculture, Education, Health, Employment and Trade, Tourism’ with the objective of conserving and promoting Gaindhawa Lake, which is listed in the World Wetlands Area.

This lake fish is considered to be very famous. However, now the lake will be promoted as a pure tourist destination, said Chiranjeevi Ghimire, chief administrative officer of the village. He said that work is underway to widen and level the road to reach Gaidhawa Lake.

This historic and large lake of Rupandehi was obscured by tourists for years. Gaidhawa village municipality is named after the lake.

Ornithologists have said that most of the birds are found around the Gaidatal area in Nepal. The federal, state and local governments have allocated around Rs 4 million for the promotion. Gaidhawa Lake is located 12 km northwest of Lumbini and 30 km west-south of Bhairahawa, about 12 km southwest of the colony in Sainamina municipality.

Festival to promote tourism

The village municipality has organized the first lake festival to develop it as water tourism. Inaugurating the festival, which started on Thursday, Chief Minister of State 5 Shankar Pokharel said that the state government was ready to assist in the development of the lake connected to Lumbini. He said that the construction work of the international airport would be completed in six months and after that the tourists would visit Gaidhawa Lake along with Lumbini.

“The lake should be developed in association with Lumbini. I am announcing the gift of two steamer boats from the state government,” said Chief Minister Pokharel. Stating that the state government has given priority to tourism, he urged to develop tourism in association with Lumbini. Whip of the National Assembly Khim Lal Bhattarai has expressed the view that Gaidhawa Lake will become a major destination for water tourism in the state.
The municipality has organized the festival with the slogan of ‘Infrastructure Development including Agriculture, Education, Health, Employment and Trade, Tourism’ with the objective of conserving and promoting Gaindhawa Lake, which is listed in the World Wetlands Area.
