Gandaki : The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has selected 18 places in Gandaki as new tourist destinations for tourism development. The Ministry has identified those places in Gandaki as new tourist destinations on the basis of recommendations and applications received from the Nepal Tourism Board, local and state governments and stakeholders.
According to the ministry, Chumbhyali of Chumnurbi village of Gorkha, Kaulepani of Lamjung, Kalika Shaheed and Shanti Park of Tanahu and Siddhagufa Bhimad, Mauja Homestay of Kaski, Siklesh Tourist Area, Narfu Trail of Manang, Lomanthang Durbar Cave Area of Mustang They have been selected as new tourist destinations.
Similarly, Satau-Chandikalika area of Syangja, Bhakunde Bhairavasthan of Baglung, Daha of Gaza, Dhorpatan reserve area, Daunnedevi of Nawalparasi East, Ghorepani tourist area of Myagdi and footpath from Raghuganga Ruise Danda to Dhawalagiri Ice Falls are new tourist destinations. Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry Ghanshyam Upadhyaya said it was necessary to develop the tourism industry as the mainstay of the national economy by developing new tourist destinations and product identification, development and tourism infrastructure by diversifying tourist destinations to develop the tourism sector and bring benefits to the people.
The government had allocated budget for the current fiscal year 2075/76 through budget statement with the announcement of identifying and developing new destinations for the promotion of tourism in Nepal. According to the ministry, more than 600 applications were received for new tourist destinations. The ministry has identified 100 new destinations across the country.
The ministry had published the information in August setting five bases for the selection of new destinations. Destinations will be developed in collaboration with the private sector. The selection of 100 new destinations will help the goal of attracting 2 million tourists to Nepal in the year 2020.
