Lohakil Danda: There are two famous places in the east to watch the sunrise – Sri Antu of Ilam and Sandakpur. Hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists visit Sri Antu and Sandakpur every year to see the glittering Jhulkegham. Those who do not have enough are left wondering when they will get it. Those who arrive go back and forth to enjoy the sunset. They have become synonymous with sunrise – Sri Antu and Sandakpur.
Like these two places, another place with a beautiful view of sunrise has also been found – Lohakil Danda . A beautiful view of Jhulkegham can be seen from Lohakil Danda at the confluence of Fidim Municipality-14 of Panchthar, Falgunanda Municipality-3 and Sandakpur Municipality of Ilam. “But due to lack of publicity, Lohakil is still in the shadows,” said Madan Rai, a local.
At an altitude of three thousand seven meters, Lohakil. From there, you can see the breathtaking views of the mountain ranges including Kanchenjunga, Kumbhakarna and Everest. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader Hark Nemwang Mixo, who met him at Lohakil Danda on Tuesday morning, said, “You can see the beautiful sunrise from Sri Antu and Sandakpur.”
Nemwang said it was the first time he had heard that Jhulkegham could be seen from Lohakil. Journalist Vijay Bodh Laoti, who was with the team, also said that Lohakil was a suitable place to watch the sunrise. He said, “If all the three local governments take joint initiative to promote tourism in the region, Lohakil will become an alternative destination to see Jhulkegham.”
The tourist spot is near Sukepokhari, Lohakil. Sukepokhari can be reached by a five-kilometer drive from Paubabhanjyang Bazaar in Panchthar on the Mechi Highway. You can reach Lohakil by walking for half an hour from Sukepokhari. From where you can see in the morning, the view of the beautiful Jhulkegham.
There is a dry pond near Lohakil Danda . Nearby are beautiful places like Sadhutar, Ranke, Deurali, religious tourist areas like Silauti and Labrekuti. A one-day package tour of all these places can be done on the Lohakil trip. Local Suresh Rai said that domestic tourists visit Lohakil from time to time. He demanded the local government to pay attention to the promotion of tourism in the Lohakil area, which is in the shadow of lack of publicity and promotion. CPN (Maoist) leader Nemwang said that he would take initiative to develop Lohakil area as an attractive destination for watching the sunrise.
Lohakil Danda is an excellent destination for sunrise and scenic views of the beautiful mountain ranges. The hill is located at the triangular confluence of Fidim Municipality-14, Falgunanda Municipality-3 and Sandakpur Municipality of Ilam District. From here, you can see the beautiful view of Jhulkegham and the breathtaking view of the mountain ranges including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Kumbhakarna.
But due to lack of publicity, Lohakil Danda is still overshadowed. Although there has been a lot of talk about developing this region in terms of tourism, no concrete work has been done. This Lahakil hill is at an altitude of three thousand seven meters. The tourist spot is near Sukepokhari. There is a five-kilometer motor journey from Paubabhanjyang Bazaar in Panchthar of Mechi Highway to Sukepokhari. A half-hour walk from Sukepokhari leads to Lohakil Danda , from where you can see the breathtaking view of Jhulkegham in the morning.
Along with Lohakil, there are beautiful places like Sukepokhari and nearby Sadhutar, Ranke, Deurali, religious tourist areas like Silauti and Labrekuti. A one-day package tour of all these places can be done on the Lohakil trip. According to local Suresh Rai, domestic tourists visit Lohakil from time to time. This place in the Lekali region attracts crowds of young girls from different places to play in the snow during the winter season.
It is seen that the concerned bodies should pay attention to the tourism development of Lohakil Danda area which is being overshadowed due to lack of publicity and promotion.
